Dr. Kent Robinson

Healthcare Professional of the Year

Kent Robinson, MD, is a board certified Internal Medicine Physician. He is currently a staff physician employed by Mercy Health. His Practice integrates the specialty of Internal Medicine with nutritional and preventive approaches to health and wellness:

Dr. Robinson received his medical degree from the University Of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he was honored with the Salvador M. Adriano Award for outstanding work in the field of Pathology. He completed his residency training at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Robinson has been recognized nationally by the American Diabetes Association and the National Committee of Quality Assurance for quality diabetes care. He has lectured for a variety of pharmaceutical companies on subjects including diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol disorders He is currently a LPCC preceptor, faculty member for the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, teaching and providing medical students with medical practice experience. Dr. Robinson's community involvement, both here and abroad, is lifelong. He is a motivational speaker on issues of health and wellness both locally and nationally. He is cofounder and director of the Optimal Health and Wellness Initiative (OHWI), an organization that promotes wholistic approaches to healthcare globally. The organization’s vision is 'optimal health and wellness for all', One of the organization's local initiatives is 'A Day of Wellness Health Fair' which brings together leaders in health care, community and politics providing a forum for community empowerment and enrichment. The fair focuses on servicing, including health screening, of uninsured community members and referring them to primary care providers for their health care. This health fair integrates allopathic; Chinese, naturopathic, chiropractic, and other professions to provide a broader healing experience and understanding to participants. There is also tasty, nutritional vegan meals and a variety of movement activities. The fair attracts close to 1,000 participants annually and is free and open to the public. Dr. Robinson travels to Ghana, in the western region of Africa, working in clinics and hospitals in rural areas of the country, treating hundreds of individuals during his visits. One of his projects is the integration of allopathic medicine with traditional healing practices of the local areas. His global outreach has also included Haiti and Nigeria.

Dr. Robinson has received many community awards and honors. Among these are the Martin Luther King Award, Emancipation Award, Humanitarian Award, Servants Award, Sankofa Award and the Heroes of the Hood Award. He has received certificates of recognition from the State of Ohio and the Ohio House of Representatives for his work in the community: Dr. Robinson and his office, Mercy Avordale Internal Medicine, have been awarded the Healthcare Heroes Award for Community Outreach and Service.

Dr. Robinson is a member of the Cincinnati Medical Association, the National Medical Association, the Association of Black Cardiologists, and the American Medical Association. His hobbies include music, history, gardening, astronomy, and coin collecting,
