Mrs. Felicia Beckham

Healthcare Professional of the Year

Felicia Beckham is a native Cincinnatian who graduated from Hughes Center High School, Health Professions. She has earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at The University of Cincinnati in 2008 and a Master of Science in Nursing at The University of Cincinnati in 2014. Felicia is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who currently works at The HealthCare Connection. Along with providing excellent quality care to her patients, Felicia is the facilitator of the organization’s Diabetic Support Group and was selected to be the first provider to become a member of the Character Committee. Previously, she worked at The Christ Hospital as a nurse practitioner with the Pulmonary/Sleep team where she created education tools for patients to optimize their understanding for their disease state and created education sessions for the ancillary staff. As a registered nurse, Felicia worked as a Clinical Coordinator at Mercy’s Emergency Department and a staff nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at The University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Felicia’s mission is to improve patients’ healthcare trajectory by encouraging her patients to be an active participant in their healthcare as well as create solutions to the healthcare issues in our communities.

      Felicia was awarded YWCA’s Rising Star in 2017 and was recently selected to participate in YWCA’s 2020 Rising Star Leadership Program. She is the author of “Diversifying the Medical Field” article, featured in The Cincinnati Herald and Black Press USA. Felicia is a committee member for Cincinnati’s Urban League Young Professionals Organization.She has volunteered with The Cincinnati Health Department and The Christ Hospital and Mathew 25 ministries to assist with the Community COVID Testing. She was invited to be a guest speaker on 91.7 WVXU to discuss COVID-19/Health Disparities and Urban League of SWO “Coronavirus Series 101.” Felicia was selected to the moderator for The Cincinnati Chamber’s “Racial Equity Series: Understanding Health Disparities and How Your Business Can Be Apart of the Solution.” While serving as a provider, speaker and mentor, her passion is to provide the community with the tools they will need to excel and succeed throughout their lifespan. 

      Felicia is the founder and president of Cincinnati’s Black Nurse Practitioner Network (CBNPN). CBNPN was founded in 2019. The organization’s mission is to increase diversity within the nurse practitioner field and to fulfill the healthcare needs of our local communities. The CBNPN was invited to speak with high school seniors at Hughes STEM’s 2019 career day. The CBNPN was selected to participate in The University of Cincinnati’s 2020 Feminist Symposium. While CBNPN continues to work tirelessly on the frontlines during the COVID pandemic, we donated toiletries, feminine products, personal hygiene items and letters of inspiration to CPS-Bond Hill Elementary, Jurisdiction-Wide Resident Advisory Board (J-RAB) and a monetary donation was made to YWCA’s COVID-19 Response Fund. The CBNPN was recognized by The Health Collaborative’s, Gen-H and The Cincinnati Chamber for theirdedication to prioritize the healthcare needs of the community.
