Mr. Jimmy Stringer

Rising Star of the Year

Jimmy Steele Stringer III was born on September 19 1986 in Baltimore Maryland. His primary and secondary education occurred in Decatur Georgia, where he attended Tilson Elementary, Browns Mill Middle School, and South West Dekalb High School. Mr. Stringer went on to graduate from Xavier University in Cincinnati Ohio with a bachelor’s of science in physics in 2009. Mr. Stringer continued onto attain a Master’s of Science in medical physics from the University Of Cincinnati School Of Medicine in 2011. After his education Mr. Stringer was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Air Force where he served 4 years as an active duty Bioenvironmental Engineer and Medical Physicist. During his tenure in the US Air Force Mr. Stringer created a career progression pipeline for Medical Physicist in the Air Force, deployed to Afghanistan, and was the Chief Bioenvironmental Engineer. After his military service Mr. Stringer went back to school to obtain a PhD in Radiological Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, where he is in the final steps of completing his degree. During the PhD process Mr. Stringer was recruited to the Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital where he eventually became the Chief of Medical Physics. Currently Mr. Stringer is a clinical Diagnostic Medical Physicist for University of Cincinnati Health System. Mr. Stringer is Board Certified through the American Board of Radiology for Therapeutic Medical Physics and currently in the process of attaining a second Board Certification in Diagnostic Medial Physics. Mr. Stringer’s research interests include optimization of dose delivery in proton radiotherapy and variations in radiation therapy dosimetry based on sex, disease state and race. Mr. Stringer has been awarded scholarships and grants from the National Institute on Occupational Safety and Health, National Brachy Therapy Society, and Next Step Innovation Hub. Mr. Stringer’s ultimate goal is to be a good husband, father, and community advocate. Mr. Stringer pays homage to his parents for fostering an environment of success and standards, that have been a valuable asset in his personal progre
